Blue Crab Retreat, Ridgeland, South Carolina -We were a large extended family looking for a place to hang our hats for a week during a relative's USMC graduation. Not only was it a fun vacation place, but it was great to bring him back for a few days rest after a long 3 months at bootcamp. The location of the property was far enough away to feel secluded, but close enough (13 minutes to be exact) from the convenience of grocery, fast food, and the interstate. We love to fish, be outdoors, eat, and just hang out. We found all of those things waiting for us at the Blue Crab rental. The dock and surrounding marshland was beautiful, well built, and well maintained. The high tide brought many opportunities to explore the river and the low tide brought just as much opportunity to catch bait in the low pools of water left behind. The Dennis's thought of everything when it came to the outdoor fun of kayaking, fishing, cast-netting; as well as the indoor fun of DVD's, wifi, and board games. We also enjoyed the fire pit (with chopped wood waiting for us) on our last night, and took advantage of the great climbing trees hanging out over the water in the late afternoons. The screened porch was the place to be at any time during the day. Even in the heat of the day it was pleasant to be outside. The cabinets were well stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware. We cooked enough for an army every night and we always had what we needed. The double kitchens were a huge help in the massive cleanup it took after every meal too. At the end of our stay we all weren't ready to leave, and every person was very happy with their stay.
